I am a critical care nurse, a travel nurse, a travel lover, a dog lover, a dog mom, an introvert (although at work, you'd guess I am extroverted), an empath, an INFJ, a truth seeker, a dreamer, a deeply serious soul with a wicked sense of humor, an aunt, a friend, a daughter, and a sister. These are my thoughts and experiences about nursing and life. I have changed quite a bit since starting this blog, but to honor where I have been and where I am going I have kept all my entries whether or not they are memories that I want to keep. My goal in life is to obtain inner peace, be the change, and mostly to be a beautiful soul! Namaste, my friends!!

Valentine's whatever

As you may recall, cupid died. Remember this?! He's dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Yeah, still dead. I'm married and I still tell you, he's dead. Sorry. Ugh. I hate pink and I hate sappy holidays.

April Fools...NOT!!

The word is out...I'm engaged! No this is not an April Fool's Day joke, but I thought it would be funny to post this today because it is April Fool's Day and most people didn't even know I was dating someone. :)

Single's Awareness Day

Cupid died. Sorry (not). There's no Valentine's day this year.
P.S. My dislike of this holiday has nothing to do with whether I'm single or not, just for the record. I dislike it even when I have a boyfriend.
P.P.S. The use of so much pink might have something to do with it....and the fact that it makes me gag. Too sappy. Yuck.
P.P.P.S. There might be a few other reasons too. But, as you can see it doesn't matter, cuz he's dead. Dead. Dead. Dead.
THE END

Everybody's on the Food Chain

Last weekend I FINALLY got to go see OneRepublic in concert in Philly with the Boy, after months of missing their concerts. I've loved this band since May or June, long before anyone had ever heard of them (See OneRepublic "Apologize" from June and 1R from October). Amazingly, they can really sing (and play). It was a good concert. One of their opening bands was a guy call Eric Hutchinson. At first I was kind of skeptical of him when I heard his music on Myspace, but he's actually pretty good. He's kind of funky. I like it. But if the guy doesn't make it as a musician he could definitely make it as a stand up comedian. He was a great entertainer and very funny. He did this same thing about Justin Timberlake (who I hate) at our concert, but it was much better actually.
He also sang a song called "Food Chain." About how we're all on the food chain and no matter how hard we try we can't improve our status. He said there are 4 types of guys in this world and this is a direct quote: "Ugly, Ok, Hot, and Really Hot but total Asshole." haha Yep, that's true.

Don't worry, I already downloaded his CD. I think I like this kid. He's got his facts straight. Look at the lyrics for some of his songs if you don't believe me. Smart, smart man.

New Year's Goals :D

So last week in church a girl was talking about making goals, so my roommate and I decided right then and there to make our own goals for the year. These are the results:
1) Kiss a guy from every state this year
2) Kiss a guy in every state this year (which obviously requires us to visit every state during this year)
3) Eat a pickle a day (too bad she hates pickles. I love dill pickles though, lucky me)
4) Watch a half hour of Hannah Montana a day
5) Waste at least 2 hours a day on the Internet on Facebook, Myspace, GoggleChat, blogging, stalking, etc. (other non-productive things)
6) Break 5 boys hearts this year
7) Make 10 boys cry this year
Hmm....I might be missing some and she's in Florida (maybe she'll kiss some guys, lucky her!!) so I can't get the rest right now, darn. So, do we have any volunteers to help us fulfill our goals? Don't all jump at once!! :)

It's a bird, it's a plane, oh wait...it really is a plane

I flew from Baltimore to Manchester, New Hampshire last Thursday and the following are some of the safety instructions that the flight attendant gave at the beginning of our flight. “It’s a $2000 fine for smoking in the lavatory and if you had that kind of money, let’s be honest, you would’t be flying Southwest. If the pressure in the cabin changes during the flight, first of all stop screaming and strangling the guy in the seat next to you, unless of course he is incredibly attractive :D…If there happens to be an emergency, well if we already knew about it we would have called in sick today of course…blah blah blah.” She said more, but I missed it. Apparently no one else was listening and thought the flight attendant was funny, but I was cracking up and I wasn’t even really listening.

Instead of listening, I was reading a textbook smashed between two full-sized men. What is it about being in the middle seat that you just HAVE to be between 2 huge guys? Good thing my flight was only about an hour and 15 minutes. Luckily I was just reading the Pediatric part of my textbook. People don’t tend to appreciate when I read the OB part of it in public. The pictures (refer to my “Do I have what?! Shhhh….” Blog for the Doctor Porn story) don’t tend to go over very well with non-medical personnel. Still it was pretty uncomfortable to try to read/ highlight a humongous textbook smashed between two guys who were taking up more than their fair share of room. It’s one thing to read a flat piece of paper or book, but when you have to open the cover to read a textbook, its pretty inconvenient b/c then you’re taking up twice as much room on your lap space with it. So you have to hold up one cover and try to read sideways which is really hard, by the way, while trying to highlight too. At least I finished reading the rest of the chapter and could move on to the novel, much more convenient for plane reading.

Just like medical TV shows, I love medical novels. They’re fascinating and educational. Oh...I am SUCH a dork. Oh well, I really do learn things by reading them. That’s how I justify taking time to do reading for pleasure, not from my textbooks, every once in a while.

P.S. On the way home the flight attendant during the safety instructions again added funny stuff such as, "the attendant will be by to shut all the overhead compartments and to make sure your belt matches your shoes." He also said something about your kids "or if you're like the guy up here who's just acting like a kid." Again, no one laughed. Why am I the only one who hears these things? I wasn't even paying attention. Good grief, I guess if there is ever a crash we'll all be screwed or we can hope we've heard the instructions enough times that we'll remember them. Hmmm...

Dove Chocolates are GOOD

These were the messages on the inside of the wrappers of my Dove Chocolates today.
Smile. People will wonder what you've been up to.
Be mischievous. It feels good.
Do what feels right.

Huh?! Aren't those a little contradictory? It's ok, I guess cuz sometimes I ask the Magic 8 ball questions about my life. Of course if I get an answer I don't like I can always shake it until it gets the answer right. That's also effective with some men. haha :)

P.S. I promise I'll post my latest stories from classes as soon as I get some sleep in my life. I don't remember the last time (minus last night when I went to bed a little after 1am, I think) I went to bed before 2 am. Right now I'm pretty sure my blogs would not make much sense. I'm not exactly coherent, sorry. I feel a little bit like death warmed over and I definitely look it. But don't worry, instead of sleeping right now I'm watching Discovery Health. LOVE love love Discovery Health!! Besides, I learn stuff watching their shows. So, that counts as homework right? Ok, maybe not, but it's still educational.

"But [you] can't fight with an eclipse...."

I think Edward Cullen has ruined men for me. I will probably never be able to settle for a normal man again. Stupid perfect gorgeous vampire. Dammit. Can I have him? Seriously, now why don't men like him exist in the real world? Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Being in love with fictional characters is obviously a lot more exciting than my real life. I need to stop reading novels. But, I still want to keep him. Besides, he loves blood as much as I do. He's definitely perfect. Hahaha, I'm morbid. I'm totally kidding. But I'm not kidding about the perfect man. Damn you, Edward Cullen.

"Take 'em back, take 'em back..."

I realize I haven't written in awhile and people have been asking about it, so here's the deal....I'm taking OB and PEDs this semester (aka children and mother/ baby). So...a lot of our lectures, at least in OB, are really graphic and pretty awkward subjects outside of nursing (even in nursing). I'll try to tone it down for the blog, but you've been warned, k?! This commentary from today's OB class was between a friend and I. I'm not going to distinguish between who said what, but they are direct quotes mostly. :) Oh...and most of it shouldn't be said out loud, as usual, last warning...

Male determines gender of new baby
X = girl
Y = boy

I believe the response to this picture was:
"Cute."
"You just called sperm cute."
"It looks happy."
"Not THAT happy, it hasn't been fertilized yet."
"Why does the male get to determine the gender?"
"Because they don't really get much of a say in anything else." (Oh, soooo true, poor men. I almost feel bad for them, almost).

A fact on another slide: "Sperm: Live 1-3 days after ejaculation"
Response to that slide: "AH-HAH! That's how they do it. Otherwise they'd never survive in our world. We're very mean to them." (Ouch, that's actually true too...hmmm, but they might deserve it).
In response to this slide and my professor's rather terrible explanation of it my friend wrote on her slide "WTF?!" "Look up in book!" Hahahahaha...that's pretty bad when you have to write WTF? on your notes b/c your professor sucks so bad at explaining the material.

On the "Infant State-Related Behavior Chart" descriptions of actions of the infant are evaluated on scales. Under "Cuddliness" the "Implications for Caregiving" are stated as: " cuddliness is usually rewarding behavior for the caregivers. It seems to convey a message of affection." I do believe, we volunteered to spoon at this point...cuddliness IS, indeed a message of affection. Hey, guys are good for something, at least. Yay for LoveSac's which facilitate great said "cuddling or spooning." ;-)

Last Saturday I went to my bro's house for their going away party. Boooo....they're abandoning me in DC. Gaysauce. I'm really too bitter about this subject to talk about it right now. I already whined for a good half an hour about it today alone. Anyways, I went to their party with a bunch of married people, oh the joy, actually that really has nothing to do with this except we were talking after. OK, I am tired. Moving on. My sister-in-law works at an all girls private school. One word, "MONEY." Their tuition is more expensive than mine, good grief. Who pays $25,000 for their 7 year old to go to school? The answer is lots and lots of people in the DC area. Anyways, Carly was telling me a story that one of her co-workers, an alumnus (is that the right word? whatever) told her. The woman said she knew that she went to an all girls school one day when she saw a girl walking down the hall, grab her stomach and say "Ah, my uterus hurts." Uh yeah, only at an all girls school would that happen. My sister-in-law is also pregnant and due in February with their first baby, YAY (except they'll be in Littleton, BOOOO, again). The problem is, my brother gets horribly queasy when it comes to blood and guts. Yes, we have VERY different tastes in life. Poor guy can't even handle me telling stories...he turns a little green. It's kinda fun. :-D I'm so evil! He's convinced that he's going to be in the Labor/ Delivery room with Carly when she has the baby though, I'm convinced he's not going to make it. He'll pass out, I'm sure of it. He's so determined that he'll be fine and that he's just going to stay at the top of the bed. He thinks he'll rally when he has to though and be just fine. There's a slight possibly that might work, but there's NO way he's going to make it through the after-birth. The placenta is probably the bloodiest thing I have ever seen/ touched. I used to have the oh so pleasant job of cleaning the birthing carts and bagging the placentas to freeze them. My professor tried to describe a placenta today, but until you hold one in your hands there's no way you can possibly sum up how bloody, rubbery, and disgusting it really is...and yet that sack allows a fetus to grow for 9 months, amazing. Truly incredible! There's also nothing like holding a brand new, literally, baby in your arms. It's a pretty special experience. I would never do OB, it's just not for me, not enough excitement, surprisingly enough, but it's fun to do every once in a while. I enjoyed the time I worked there as a CNA and a secretary on a Mother/ Baby Unit.

Anyways, that was quite the tangent, sorry. I hope I didn't gross anyone out too bad. Oh, I just realized I didn't explain the title line. We also talked about twins and how they're formed today. My friend decided she definitely does NOT want twins and if she has them she's going to be like: "take 'em back, take 'em back!!" hahaha...yeah, I would probably feel the same way. In fact, by the time this class is over we're probably not going to want kids at all. Thank goodness for nieces and nephews. LOVE them, especially since you can give them back!! ;-) So this semester promises to be an entertaining one full of lots of blogs, probably. For now, it's late and I need to be sleeping.

I feel old

So after giving out my list on my birthday of things that people had to avoid talking about, things people could talk to me about, and things they could not do around me, people's reactions were somewhat interesting and very entertaining...

My birthday started with a phone call from Austria at 12:15am at the beginning of my bday. My oldest brother has been there touring for several weeks. I got a call from Europe for my birthday. YAY! He was pretty confused though b/c it was 6am his time and he was like "did I miss it?" Uh no, it just started, lol. Good thing I was up still writing my paper. :) At least he remembered.

Moving on to some of my Facebook and Myspace comments- an old roommate recommended that I eat lots of olives :), a classmate didn't mention school b/c she said it's a dirty word (well, it is), I'm not explaining the Loch Ness Monster picture a friend posted on my Myspace page b/c that would take too long, but it's hilarious to me, at least, and a singing YouTube video were the unique ones in addition to the awesome comments from other friends that basically said happy birthday (imagine that?!).

One friend left me a message singing the entire happy birthday song, then ended with "Go Red Sox. Bye" then hung up. LOL That was awesome. Then my next oldest brother called and he had actually printed the list out and was looking at it during our conversation. lol Except he cheated. He used Littleton instead of Denver, that's totally cheating. They just bought a house there and are abandoning me in D.C., the punks. Sure, as soon as you find out I'm going to be an Aunt again, you move. Boooo. Actually most of what he said was on the Disapproved List (see there were reasons for those things being on the list). Oh well. It was an entertaining conversation, nonetheless. I got another very entertaining phone call from a good friend who used several words on the "Approved List." Except he said it so fast I really have NO idea what he said. Something about "squirrels who wore boots when they ride bulldozers." hahahaha Yeah, I don't know. Awesome!

The emails I got in response to the one I sent out with the list were classic as well. My cousin for instance, is absolutely awesome. He insists he's not a day over 30 (pretty sure he's several) and that there's no way I can be 25. He emailed me the link to a Yankee haters site, a tree house site, invited me to Oregon to visit and also to go to Europe in the fall with him, and mentioned several other things on the approved list. He did break the rules and mention a couple things on the disapproved list, but since he's family and since I related to what he was talking about....well, never mind, he got away with it. :) Most people avoided the list altogether and just said happy birthday or waited until several days later to email me. That works too, lol. Luckily my friends know me well enough to appreciate my humor and liked the lists and didn't take them too seriously. One friend mentioned how much she loves squirrels, one friend wanted to do a list for her bday next year, more emails involved people mentioning things on the list and how they related to them and to me (oh, and apparently lighting bugs are called "fireflys" in Tennessee and you get made fun of if call them lightning bugs, whatever, lol), one friend offered to hit on me if no one else was doing a good enough job of that, since one friend just had her baby she couldn't say much, but told me to call her when we could talk (ooops, my bad), one friend mentioned EVERYTHING on the list, awesome! I found out later she had to ask my roommate what UFC was, lol (incidentally my roommate despises UFC and won't let me watch it when she's home). Oh, and she said she wouldn't discuss TWSS. hahaha, gee I wonder why?! I would post that whole email on here, it's entertaining enough, but then I'd have to cite it, and I hate citing things. APA sucks. Another friend told me to dream about my list, but mostly people just enjoyed reading the lists. Yay, I'm glad I could provide some entertainment cuz believe me the week before my bday was HELL!!!

Then another friend showed up at my doorstep with a 6 pack of Dr. Pepper, yay! The first thing he says to me when I open the door is, "it's salmon, not pink." Referring to his shirt that he was wearing, lol. I just laughed at him. I then gave him a 30+ minute massage. Happy Birthday to ME, lol. :P J/K, in all reality I love giving massages, I love getting them too, of course.

A friend took me to breakfast and I only got a little bit lost getting there. :) That night we went to dinner, just my roommates and me. I wanted a drama free bday and thankfully I mostly had one. Unfortunately most of my friends can't be in the same room right now without there being some drama between all of them, so I opted to have no friends around, except 2. Maybe that's mean, but it's my bday and I have a bad track record with bdays I wasn't going to deal with other people's drama on that day, sorry. We went to P.F. Chang's. I haven't been there in a while. The funny thing is I HATE Chinese food. I'm not sure that qualifies as Chinese though. Well, it rocks anyways. Minus the fact that I for some reason decided it would be a good idea to eat one of the peppers. I thought I was going to start blowing fire out of my mouth. It was bad. I was dying. My roommates thought it was funny though. Never again. I can't even eat Hot Tamales, that pepper was WAY outta my league. I was miserable. (you can see the evil red pepper here...bain of my existence!!! Oh, and I like soy sauce) But I got to take home my "Chocolate Wall." Worth every calorie. SOOOO amazing. Chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, and fruit with raspberry sauce drizzled over it. Oh yeah!!!!! Love it!! Other than that, the day was pretty unexciting. Couple other good phone calls and texts. One friend was nice enough to mention that I was just one day closer to my death. Lovely. The quarter of a century thing came up a few times too. Oh well...my roommate was shocked when she realized that she's two years older than me which makes her 27, so hey, I'm not that old. J/K I'm just in my mid-twenties closer to 30 than 20. Groan....

P.S. I'll add the pics when I get them from my roommate. For some reason most of them I think are of me climbing into fountains. I have no idea why. I'm weird. Holding bag and purse, talking on the phone, walking into the fountain, and holding up my pants (I know you can't tell that, but I am) = multi-tasking at it's best!
Just so you can see how cool this fountain was (downtown Arlington has really cool fountains)
Testing the water....
It was really tempting...

I'm the soberest drunk you've ever met...

Wow, way to start out a weekend, Jennie. So after a month and a half of trying to find a night when my roommies and I could all get together to go to a Nationals baseball game, we finally went last night. YAY. Pathetic that we can't find a night when all of us (there's only 4) can get together for 1 1/2 months, huh?!
Here's my addendum...if you don't already know I'm a HUGE baseball fan. That's an understatement too. I'm a die hard Red Sox fan. I'm also for whoever beats the Yankees. :) (I also like the Astros and I used to be a Rockies fan, but since my ex played for their farm system, I'm not exactly what you would call a fan anymore). So when I watch baseball, I get REALLY into it. I am LOUD, LOUD, LOUD. That's an understatement as well. I'm obnoxious. I'm like an out of control, drunk, baseball fan, that won't shut up. That even applies to watching it at home, but it's worse when I'm actually at a game. So I warned my roommates beforehand....

Ash and I smile (I swear I have a tan, she's just really dark)...Lex dances...and Bekah found her Metro card (too bad it was too late to use it)...and this is how we entertain ourselves on the Metro. She solved it!...it was apparently a long ride
Moving on to the game....we got there a little late, but it was already into the 2nd inning. Yeah go ahead and guess the score...hahahaha 0-5 Brewers. Ouch, the Nationals suck. Oh well, it's baseball, that's all I cared about. So everything was going fine, and then my roommates decided they were bored I guess. Hmmm...how about we try to embarrass the heck outta Jennie was their next thought, I'm pretty sure. I have this thing about being dared to do things- you can't dare me to do things, cuz I'll do them, unfortunately. I can't turn them down, usually. Boooo....so there were these 4 guys at the VERY top of the stadium who were like outta control fans. My roommies decided that I desperately needed to go become acquainted with these guys. haha. Blast! So that conversation went something like: Jennie: Hi, um, I think you guys are like the only real fans in this stadium and I'm down there and I'm the only one who's cheering. So I think it's awesome that you guys are fans. Can I get my picture with you?" Those aren't even close to my real words, but I don't remember my exact words, it was a long night as you will see. Yeah, I rock. I'm pretty sure they knew they were a bet, but whatever, I still did it.

The first pic is to show you they were literally at the top of the stadium with no one around so they watched us walk all the way up there and all the way back to our seats. Awesome. Yeah, they were totally in high school. hahahahaha...I have NO idea what I'm doing with my hands, and according to my roommate I look tiny compared to them, lovely.
OK, so this is where the night got really interesting. Like I said, I'm LOUD at baseball games. I'm also a very opinionated person and I know my baseball enough to be able to have an opinion and yell. So around the time I got back down to our seats, my roommates started noticing that a guy several rows ahead and the section over from us would turn around and look and laugh every time I yelled. Like I said, I'm not quiet. Apparently he and his dad thought I was incredibly entertaining. :) Oh, I also tend to, um, not edit things I yell when I'm watching baseball and I can be very mean and rude if I don't like something that happens. Now my roommates got really interested in this whole baseball game just b/c this guy was very interested in me. hahaha. Well, once I knew I had an audience and that I'd never see anyone in that stadium again, I figured i might as well play it up. "So let's give him a show, " is what I believe I said. hehehe. I'm sure everyone around me thought I was incredibly drunk and out of control. Unfortunately for them, I've never had a drink of alcohol in my life. I was totally sober. Baseball is intoxicating though, as are guys ;) ...you put them together and I'm a goner. Oh...and as one of my roommies put it "he had pretty blue eyes." Yes, yes he did. Well...me yelling approximately every 60 seconds, VERY loudly and him turning around and him and his dad laughing every time = ammo for my roommates. Yeah, they started planning my wedding. WHOA! Wait, wait, wait!!! They even picked where I was getting proposed to, where the wedding was at, who would be there, when it would be (today actually, well, technically yesterday, Saturday), what my colors were, etc. Um...hold on, kids...#1- I don't even know his name, #2- WT...?!, #3- I'm acting like I'm 12, whey would even want to talk to me (although he obviously thinks I'm funny and his dad loves me), and #4- I don't like the wedding colors you picked....hahaha, j/k. They even started texting our friends and telling them. Oh great.
(P.S. the nacho cheese was good...and red, white and blue in the background is him)
Moving on to more ways I made a fool out of myself in front of him. :D During the 7th inning stretch of course we got up and sang. Except instead of singing "Root, root, root, for the Nationals" I screamed "RED SOX." I'm pretty sure he heard that one and started laughing. I couldn't resist, sorry (but not really). Then he left for a few minutes and as he was walking back and got to the end of our row at the top of the stairs to go back to his seat, we hit a home run. Well, considering that was THE most exciting thing the Nats did the entire game, of course I was jumping up and down and screaming (my roommates were too). But he actually stopped at the end of our row, looks at me and starts applauding ME, LOL. I am awesome. Yeah, my roommies still won't let me live THAT one down. "He was applauding you and you couldn't even get his name....blah blah blah." I was going to get a real picture, but he kept turning around, and that would have been bad if he had seen that. So, this is the pic of him my roommate got on her phone, that's a little less obvious than an actual camera. :) He's in the red, white and blue and his dad has the yellow hat on. During the bottom of the 9th him and his dad moved down to the railing, so we decided we needed to be down there too. ;) These pictures are the disaster that resulted while he and his dad looked on and laughed.

(Why we needed a pic of me just by myself I don't know, I look like I'm on drugs and I'm talking....haha....I think she's embarrassed by me j/k)
The rest that were taken at this point are literally too awful for anyone to see.
I failed to mention earlier that at some point my roommates for some bizarre reason decided to start smacking me on the butt. Oh great...he probably thinks we're lesbians. Nice one roommies. :P But at this point I whipped around and a guy who worked in the stadium was walking by and he comments, "you didn't think I smacked you on the butt did you?" or something like that. Um, no. LOL, oh lovely. That was par for the night.

When the game ended we said something like have nice night and went up the stadium stairs to leave. My roommates were giving me a really hard time b/c I didn't ever get his name. Yeah, I'm not even going there. On the way down the ramp I was still incredibly um, "drunk" acting at least. So I was skipping...and I realized that he was standing on the upper level watching me skip down the ramp. hehehe. Of course I did it on purpose, duh! Hey, give me a break, how often do you get to act like you're 12 again?! They were teasing me that he was going to be on the same Metro as us. Uh, no...I've had enough humiliation for one night, it's one thing to be at a baseball game, trying to hold a civilized conversation after making a complete fool out of myself is a completely different story. Yeah guess who was on our train? LOL. What are the chances? Good thing he was in another car and he didn't get off at the same stop as us. Lucky me!
Oh...my wedding was supposed to be today. We went tubing on the Potomac, sorry, no wedding. But no worries, we're going to another Nats game next Monday. Oh...and my throat is killing me today. It was totally worth it!!!!!

I got picked up by a guy...literally!!

(This blog is also from my Myspace page, but hey...this one's just plain classic and funny, so it needed to go on here. The comments back from Shane and I aren't on here obviously though, which is too bad).
My roommate told me to write this one, so here goes…I went to Utah several weeks ago, which was really fun as weird as it is to go back after being away for over a year. Although I went to school there for 5 ½ years I never really liked living there, unfortunately. But going back there I found there were a few things I really missed. Ok, I have no idea why I wrote any of that….Oh yeah, I remember now, I didn't really want to come back to Virginia after being in Utah for a week. Even though I only saw a few friends in Utah (most of my friends are spread all over the U.S. now) and there's not much there for me, I still found a few very compelling reasons to stay. I also really miss my family, especially my nephew and nieces. I lived with them for the last 6 months of my time in Utah and so it's very easy to go back and fit right into their family again. Anyways, before I get really nostalgic, I'm going to move on. I also had a really, really, really BAD sunburn from playing in the kiddie pool the day before. I know, brilliant Jennie. So needless to say, I did not want to get on a plane and sit for hours on end to come back to a place I didn't want to be. So this is possibly the best thing that could have happened to me that night, as weird as that sounds, because it got me mostly out of my "I don't want to be in DC" mood. I also got to sit next to a really cool girl on the plane for the whole trip, yeah we're friends.

Ok, here's the background….a month or so ago, my roommate posted a picture of me and my car on facebook. I did an awesome parallel parking job that I was really proud of (in all honestly I have to admit it wasn't that great, but whatever, we just like taking pictures and I LOVE that car), so she took a picture, of course. Well, she tagged her friend, Shane in the picture because she had a similar picture of his parking job of her car in the same place from a long time ago. So the tag line on the pic. was, "Jennie parked perfect too. She wanted to have this rival Shane's parking job in the same spot in front of our house." So, I commented under the pic. "YAY for Black Beauty!" That's my car's name (yeah, she's hot and I look hot in her ).
(This isn't the pic, but I looked horrible, so I'm not putting it on here) Anyways, it started out innocent enough, but then our friend Mark and Alexis both commented on it, and Shane responded. So naturally, I had to give a sarcastic reply. I won't write that whole thing down, but it's very entertaining to read that whole commentary under that one stupid picture. Well my sarcastic reply incited Shane to challenge me to a fight to the death. Bring it on, buddy. One of my other friends complained that I like to start fights with their guy friends (which is probably true since guys are fun to fight with), but in all honesty in this case Shane totally started it, I swear. I may have kept it going, but hey, I'm competitive, if someone challenges me, I'm no wimp, I refuse to back down until it's over, and by over I mean, when I win. I do have at least 2 weaknesses, but I refuse to give those out, unless I'm asked by the right people, of course. So, Shane challenged me to a fight and told me that he was going to "administer unto [me] the kiss of death." Yeah, right. Good luck, buddy. I told him he could dig his own grave. So the consensus was that we would fight when he came to DC the weekend that I was returning from Utah.

I got back to DC on a Saturday night and my roommate told me she'd come get me because my brother bailed on me like the day before, lamesauce. So I went out on the curb to wait for Lex cuz she told me to call her when I landed cuz that's about when she needed to leave our house to get to the airport in time. Well a bunch of people from my plane and I were waiting, in the rain, imagine that in DC, haha. No offense to my roommate she was taking forever to get there, it probably only felt like that cuz I was exhausted. Come to find out later, they got lost in DC, and probably got a speeding ticket as well, I guess we'll find out if her parents get one in the mail. Oops So they finally pulled up and my roommate got out of the passenger side of her car which totally confused me, but she came flying at me and gave me a big hug and said she me missed me. I feel loved. I was too tired at this point to figure out why she wasn't driving, nor did I have the time to figure it out because the next thing I know Lex grabs my suitcase and all I see is Shane (who I recognized from pictures) come flying around the back of the car and come running at me. I didn't have time to react before he came around me and picked me up and carried me all the way to the car and threw me in the back seat. All the way I'm screaming/ laughing, "I don't even know you…put me down!!!" Apparently the people's expressions on the curb were priceless, my roommate was really sad they didn't have a video camera. I was glad she came and gave me a hug first otherwise those poor people would have thought I was being abducted. LOL….It was classic though. I literally got "picked up" from the airport. Nice first impression, huh?! So he proceeded for the rest of the night to try to kill me.
(Attempt #1- I'm trapping his hand right here to keep him from killing me with it). He found out about my sunburn later, good thing he didn't pick me up higher, besides the fact that that would have been awkward. Well, more awkward than it already was. Haha I might have killed him on the spot. I seriously radiated heat and was flamingly red. Yeah, I rock. It made for some interesting outfits for me for the next week or so. I didn't want to be touched though, much less wrestling with someone who wants to kill me, lovely.(Attempt #2- friendly guy, huh, yeah we just met). Besides, it's only fun to get pinned if you get kissed, I like to say. Or as my friend Seth likes to change it to, it's only fun to get kissed if you get pinned, lol. I got dragged to another friend's house that night, by default (actually he wants to kill me too, go figure). (Attempt #3- He looks like he's trying really hard, except I'm just laughing, maybe he should have tried harder). Unfortunately, I sat behind Shane in the car for the 10 minute drive to Corey's house. BAD idea! Wrestling matches over car seats aren't very effective, but they are kind of fun. (This is like attempt #145 at the end of the night, he might have suceeded this time, but he reached through the headrest, duh). Luckily, Corey wasn't home, so I didn't have to deal with 2 guys trying to kill me in the same night, at least not that night. The next night, on the other hand, I was not so lucky. Shane, Corey, and I in a room is hazardous to my health. (Me between the two of them...I look like I'm going to puke. This is a terrible picture of me). Don't get me wrong, I can totally defend myself and I'm not afraid of either guy, but them together is a little, how do I put this….disheartening. I was not in the mood to take on either guy, luckily it was mostly a verbal fight that night. That, I will take on any day, anytime. (Ok, maybe it wasn't all verbal. This may or may not have been a picture in the middle of a pillow fight). Anyways…that's the story. We're both still alive and we live in different states, so it's all ok, at least until he comes to town again, j/k Shane…you know I like you, ok maybe not like, but tolerate. Only good friends get to see the Numa Numa Dance afterall, and you freakin' recorded it. BOOOO….that's blackmail, buddy (especially since I'm pretty sure I'm dressed like a skank in it, lovely). By the way, I am NOT putting the one from Lex's bday on YouTube no matter how badly Lex wants that other pic. off of Facebook.

I Am Dr. Pepper....

(So this is from my Myspace page, and yes, it's supposed to be funny, don't take it too seriously. This happened a while ago).
So this little blog is about me. You're probably bored already. I have an, um, serious attraction to Dr. Pepper. I'm not addicted or anything, I just really like the stuff.

I tend to be a pretty aggressive person. I grew up with three older brothers. It was essential to my survival to learn to be aggressive. I don't think I would have made it through childhood with brothers if I hadn't learned how to be aggressive (note: that grammar sounds funny, the caffeine from earlier today is wearing off, I'm really, really tired, oh well). Well, yesterday my friend and I had a discussion in which she compared me to Dr. Pepper. She said, I'm "like an extra shot of caffeine in life, [I] need to be taken responsibly. [I am] like extra strength Dr. Pepper." Let me translate...I'm really aggressive and intense. Most guys can't handle me. I tend to bait, argue with, and tease guys just to see if they can keep up with me. I like a challenge, it makes life interesting. Most of them can't. I have found a few (very few) who actually have been able to keep up with me, and I've been impressed. There are a few guys I'm still testing. We'll see how they do. Good luck to them, they're going to need it. Of course, if they pass the test, the rewards are endless…

Apparently, I need a warning label on me. In today's discussion, my friend said referring to me, "don't drink before driving or any strenuous activity." ;-) I'm definitely not for the faint of heart. Oh, and If you do choose to drink, "drink responsibly." Can you handle me?!
P.S. No, I'm still not drinking coffee or alcohol. I haven't changed that much, friends.
